CACHOEIRO DE ITAPEMIRIM
BIRDWATCHING LOCATIONS AND CONTACT WITH NATURE
Cachoeiro de Itapemirim is the fifth most populous municipality of Espírito Santo, with a little more than 200,000 inhabitants. A "Secret Capital of the World" is known nationally for the fact that the consecrated singer Roberto Carlos was born in the city. Besides the King, Rubem Braga was another illustrious citizen of the municipality of Espírito Santo. In addition to the illustrious residents, Cachoeiro de Itapemirim has prominent tourist attractions, such as a Casa de Cultura Roberto Carlos, a Casa dos Bragas, a Railway Station, the Bernardino Monteiro Palace, the Rubem Braga Theater, the Itabira Peak and others. For bird advocates, it is worth knowing a traditional Pios Factory of the municipality, founded in 1903. The districts of the municipality are also known, with Burarama being one of the main tourist routes of the region.
BURARAMA / MONTE ALEGRE
The district of Burarama is known for all the scenic beauties, while the quilombola community of Monte Alegre is famous for the cultural scene.
Burarama is one of the main districts of Cachoeiro de Itapemirim, in the south of Espírito Santo. The district has about 700 inhabitants in the center and approximately 2500 inhabitants when added the residents of the neighboring communities. Burarama is considered the main tourist route of the municipality of Cachoeiro de Itapemirim, as there are occurrences of waterfalls, natural pools, native forests and scenic beauties, being the Pedra da Ema and the Igrejinha do Cantagalo the main references about observation and visitation respectively. The district still maintains traditions of decades ago, being Folia de Reis one of the main attractions during the Christmas festivities. In addition, in the 30's, the district was one of the main Integralistas headquarters of the country, having an incredible history referring to that time, documented in books and videos. Some residents still remember hymns and possess objects of the time. The main tourist attraction (and curious) of Burarama is the Pedra da Ema. Between the months of April and August the drawing of a Ema is formed in a great rock. Besides the date, there is also time for Emma to appear: between noon and 4pm! Monte Alegre is close to Burarama, approximately 15 km. The community is of great cultural importance to the State of Espírito Santo, because it is of quilombola origin. Monte Alegre is formed by approximately 550 quilombolas, who have black roots that supposedly came from Angola and were enslaved in nearby farms during the middle of the 19th century. The community has cultural activities, such as Caxambu and Capoeira, typical foods and Ecotourism activities, the main activity being the walk in the National Forest of Pacotuba, where monkeys can be observed.
